Our pilot projects and installations reveal that, most households stand to save up to 25% water, resulting in a saving on their monthly water accounts.

For the purpose of confidentiality, we cannot divulge the names and addresses of the properties where pilot projects were conducted, but you are welcome to contact us and we will present the proof of any projects referenced here and others that were conducted.

This case study features a school where our objectives were to:

  1. Reduce the water consumption through toilet and leaks.

  2. Establish a baseline as reference.

  3. Install and measure the efficiency of the MINOS basin cistern system.

The school has 1,500 pupils with +/- 40 toilet facilities for teachers and children. This school is part of governments nutritional food scheme project, and subsidies are also offered to the learners. It was therefore imperative to illustrate how an intervention like this could yield cost savings to the school as part of the pilot project.

After refit

The results, on only refitting 9 of the 40 toilets, showed a remarkable improvement on water saving as well as their monthly water account from the council. The evidence is clearly shown in the two graphs below.

We have subsequently been asked to complete the full retrofit to MINOS cisterns at this school.

The results at this school is common for our pilot projects and wherever we have installed our MINOS cisterns.

We conducted a Pilot project in Ekurhuleni where we selected random households, installed a MINOS toilet cistern and measured the monthly averages before and after the installations.

  • The only intervention was the installation of a MINOS toilet cistern.

  • An average drop in water usage of 26.8% was recorded after installation.

  • The average savings per household was 12.7Kl

  • Considering the cost of the installation, it is was safe to claim, that the households (if they paid for their cistern installations) would have started seeing a return on their investments after just 3 months.
