  • The database tracks behaviour and builds profiles of each individual.  This is BIG data.

  • Airtime sales, electricity payments, discount coupons etc can be delivered to the phone at very low cost

  • Influencers are identified and can be incentivised as the mobile communities are driven off network 'chatrooms'. Participants are encouraged to get peers to sign up.

  • The result of these networks?  Real-time research – fast and cheap – multiple layers of big data.

  • In turn, the community owner can sell the database to advertisers.
