WELCOME TO FRUITONE

Fruitone is a true pioneer in the South African citrus cultivation and export market. From its base in Tzaneen it oversees and manages the production of lemons, star ruby grapefruit, navel and Valencia oranges on more than 1 500 hectares of land on four estates in Limpopo.

Fair Trade accreditation with the European Union means that Fruitone’s products have access to markets throughout Europe, the Far East, Middle East and Island States throughout the world.

Because of its Fair Trade status, Fruitone’s community partners have partial ownership on which they work and have access to skills and management development programmes.

HISTORY
SOCIAL COMMITMENT
Raw 1

HISTORY.

Fruitone’s history is firmly linked to people development. From the pioneering efforts of Dr Dennis Boyes at Henley in the early 1960s, to the expansion into Hoedspruit in the 1990s and the entry into joint ventures and long-term contracts in the new millennium at Zebediela and Dinaledi, development has always been the key focus area.

This is best reflected in the way Fruitone and its joint venture partners do business together.

Training, skills development and transfers, upliftment and asset development are all words that really mean something at Fruitone’s farms.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT.

Partial ownership by members of the community means that the people who do the hard work get tangible result. In other words, projects are turned into profitable enterprises.

The European Union’s Fair Trade accreditation brings with it guidelines for social responsibility that have to be adhered to.

In this regard, Fruitone leads the way with more than 1 000 families at both Zebediela and Moletane benefiting from skills development, management programmes, computer education, schooling as well as HIV/Aids training through international programmes such as You Process and the Oak Tree Foundation.

The joint venture communities on these farms also benefit from substantial rental fees.

Fruitone has in a few years showed what can be achieved through working together. The results speak for themselves.

FAIRTRADE
EuroGAP

FAIRTRADE.

Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a partnership between producers and consumers. Fairtrade offers producers a better deal and improved terms of trade. This allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and plan for their future. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty through their every day shopping.

When a product carries the FAIRTRADE Mark it means the producers and traders have met Fairtrade standards. The standards are designed to address the imbalance of power in trading relationships, unstable markets and the injustices of conventional trade.

EurepGAP.

EurepGAP is a private sector body that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe.

EurepGAP is an equal partnership of agricultural producers and retailers which want to establish certification standards and procedures for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

EurepGAP is a pre-farm-gate-standard that means the certificate covers the process of the certified product from before the seed is planted until it leaves the farm. EurepGAP is a business-to-business label and is therefore not directly visible for the consumers.

OUR WINES

OUR WINES - BARNARDT BOYES.

Barnardt Boyes wines was born from a collaboration between two old university friends, Neels Barnardt and John Boyes. Neels has spent many years in the wine industry, while John has extensive experience in the agricultural industry in South Africa. Neels and John settled on a common trademark throughout all the company’s wines, being the initials of each of their respective surnames, BB.

This stamp of approval is found on each label and capsule of every distinctive bottle. During the past years this joint vision has finally come to fruition and a full range of top South African wines have been procured and bottled for international markets, in association with the top wine estates in South Africa.

The wines that are being marketed are of the best quality that South Africa has to offer. A very careful selection process is followed, where expert wine makers are used to taste and identify the wines on sale.
